Former President Jonathan To Commission Kashimbilla Dam, Airport in Taraba
On February 23, 2024, former president Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to inaugurate the Kashimbilla Dam and the airport in Takum, Taraba state. The 40 megawatt installed capacity of the dam is expected to significantly increase electricity in the state, particularly in the southern regions of Takum, Donga, Ussa, and Ibi. States that are nearby are likewise preparing to gain from the initiative.
Dr. Agbu Kefas, the governor of Taraba State, has already established a powerful committee, which Dr. Jeji Williams, the chief of staff, will chair. The committee’s mandate is to plan a suitable launch party for the upcoming weeks.
The group included members of the Federal and State Houses of Assembly in addition to all commissioners from the zone, according to a news release signed by Chief news Secretary Yusuf Sanda.
When the two historic projects are introduced, the public anticipates a significant impact on their life, which is why there is such anticipation.
Dr. Emmanuel Lawson, the chairman of the visiting group that visited the projects, stated earlier on Wednesday at Government House in Jalingo that the dam serves not just as a source of energy but also as a source of water for irrigation and local supplies.
He continued by saying that with the addition of the Kashimbilla airport, the state will have two airports with enormous potential for cargo traffic. He emphasized that it is impossible to measure the economic advantages to Taraba State and its surroundings.
Consequently, in order to improve the dam’s tourism appeal, a three-star hotel would also be constructed surrounding it. This was disclosed by Dr. Kefas in his reaction to the reports from the Lawson panel. The governor emphasized that for the initiatives to be maximized, there must be calm in the area.
