The Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) Academy will hold a special graduation ceremony for its fourth cohort on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) is an  innovative platform, a citadel of tech learning that aims to connect people of various backgrounds across the world by facilitating communication, digital skills training, sharing of news, and cultural exchange among diverse communities.

Through its digital channels, DDM provides a space for storytelling, amplifying voices that might otherwise go unheard, and fostering a sense of belonging for individuals living away from their countries of origin.

Through cutting-edge technology and engaging content, DDM strives to create an inclusive virtual environment where people can celebrate their heritage while embracing new ideas and perspectives.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the academy’s headquarters in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.

This ceremony marks the successful completion of months of rigorous digital training for a new generation of tech professionals.

Friends, families, mentors, and tech industry stakeholders are expected to attend and celebrate the achievements of the graduating students.

DDM Academy has built a reputation as a premier digital training institution in southeastern Nigeria, producing highly skilled tech talent.

Founded as a US company with operations in Nigeria, Diaspora Digital Media was established to solve the digital skills gap in Africa.

Its goal is to empower young Africans with the skills needed to compete in the global digital and creative economies.

The academy began operations in Awka, Anambra State, strategically placed to tap into the intellectual energy of southeastern Nigeria.

Since its inception, DDM has trained hundreds of students in areas such as digital marketing, software development, video editing, and branding.

The training programs at DDM are built around real-world problem solving, group projects, and industry-relevant digital tools.

Each cohort undergoes intensive coaching, performance evaluations, peer reviews, and mentorship from global tech professionals.

Graduates often receive support in building personal portfolios, LinkedIn profiles, and freelance platforms to start earning even before graduation.

The Cohort 4 class reflects a diverse group of learners from various educational and professional backgrounds.

Some came with no tech knowledge; others had prior experience but needed a structured environment to grow.

Several students have already secured remote internships and freelance roles with tech companies across Nigeria and abroad.

However, not all feedback has been free of criticism.

Some local observers have raised concerns about the long-term job sustainability of bootcamp-style digital training.

They question whether short courses truly translate into full-time employment or whether graduates are left on their own after training.

Others argue that foreign-owned training institutions must do more to invest locally and avoid exploiting African talent for branding purposes.

In response, DDM states that over 70% of its past graduates have moved on to productive careers in tech.

It also emphasizes its commitment to mentorship, continuous learning, and strategic partnerships with companies hiring African talent.

The academy maintains an active alumni network that continues to support graduates beyond the classroom.

With every cohort, DDM strengthens its mission to make global digital opportunities accessible to young Africans, regardless of background.

Cohort 4’s graduation serves as a significant moment, not just for the students, but for the future of grassroots tech training.

As the graduates prepare to step into the tech world, the ceremony is both a celebration and a challenge to expectations.

From Awka to the world, DDM continues to shape Africa’s digital future, one cohort at a time.
