Gabon Resolves World Bank Dispute, Pays $17 Million Arrears

Published

Gabon’s government has resolved its payment dispute with the World Bank, paying $17 million in arrears.

Technical issues had prevented Gabon from meeting its commitments by June 30, leading to the suspension of its loan and grant withdrawals.

The Ministry of Public Accounts attributed the debt to the previous administration of Ali Bongo, which was ousted in a military coup last year.

The transitional government has committed to settling all outstanding debts inherited from the previous regime, restoring Gabon’s economic credibility and renewing its relationship with international financial institutions.
