Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has condemned the recent violence in the state.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) corespondents in Plateau State, he stated that the violence was not due to farmer-herder clashes.

Instead, Mutfwang blamed “conflict merchants” for orchestrating the attacks.

He made these comments during the Tincity Fashion Week and Arts Exhibition in Abuja.

The event aimed to showcase Plateau’s cultural and tourism potential.

The violence occurred on April 2 in Manguno, Daffo, and Josho communities in Bokkos Local Government Area.

Gunmen attacked these areas, killing several people and destroying homes.

The attackers also caused extensive damage to property, worth millions of naira.

Mutfwang described the killings as part of a coordinated crime.

He emphasized that the violence aimed to destabilize Plateau State.

In his speech, Mutfwang made it clear that the violence was not a farmer-herder conflict.

Plateau State has long experienced tensions between farmers and herders.

However, the governor believes that the recent attacks are something more sinister.

He referred to the perpetrators as malicious individuals who seek to spread fear and chaos.

“The goal of the enemy is to cast a shadow of mourning and fear over our state,” Mutfwang stated.

He further assured the people of Plateau that the government would not yield to the attackers’ agenda.

The governor pledged that the government, along with security agencies, would take decisive action.

His administration is committed to preventing further violence and ensuring lasting peace in the state.

Despite the recent tragedy, Governor Mutfwang praised the organizers of the fashion event.

He commended their efforts to showcase Plateau’s culture and tourism.

Mutfwang explained that the government had considered postponing the event due to the attacks.

However, the decision was made to proceed with the event, choosing to celebrate the good in the state.

Mr. Chuwang Pwajok, the General Manager of the Plateau Tourism Board, also spoke at the event.

He described Plateau as a goldmine for tourism with rich natural and mineral resources.

Miss Christabel Bentu, one of the event organizers, commended the governor for his support for tourism.

Bentu also lauded the governor’s commitment to sustainable development in the state.

The event attracted prominent figures, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Minister Pauline Tallen.

Plateau State has been a focal point of violence in recent years.

Clashes between different ethnic groups and attacks by armed bandits have destabilized the region.

Governor Mutfwang’s statements highlight his commitment to restoring peace and security to Plateau.

He has also emphasized the importance of focusing on economic growth, especially through tourism.

The recent killings have sparked renewed conversation about security and governance in the state.

For many, the governor’s remarks offer hope that the situation will improve in the near future.
