Guinness World Record: Meet the world shortest goat

A four-year-old pygmy goat, Karumbi, has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the shortest living goat in the world.

Karumbi, owned by Kerala farmer Peter Lenu, stands at 40.50 cm (1 ft 3 inches) tall, making her exceptionally small in size.

She belongs to the Canadian pygmy goat breed, which is genetically small, with legs typically measuring no more than 53 cm (21 inches).

Lenu always admired Karumbi’s compact size but never considered submitting her for a record until a visitor suggested the idea.

Encouraged by this suggestion, he decided to seek recognition, bringing in a veterinarian to measure Karumbi’s size and health status.

The veterinarian confirmed Karumbi was fully grown, making her eligible for a Guinness World Record, an achievement that excited Lenu immensely.

Despite her small frame, Karumbi is energetic and lives alongside three male goats, nine female goats, cows, rabbits, hens, and ducks.

Interestingly, Karumbi is currently pregnant, and Lenu eagerly anticipates her baby’s birth, believing it could also set a new record.

Speaking on the recognition, Lenu expressed excitement and reiterated his commitment to maintaining the genetic quality of all his farm animals.

“I take special care of my animals, ensuring they are healthy and well-bred,” Lenu said, proud of Karumbi’s global recognition.

Since the announcement, Karumbi has gained widespread attention, with many visitors eager to see the world’s shortest living goat firsthand.

People have praised Lenu for his dedication to breeding and caring for his livestock, ensuring Karumbi’s record-breaking feat receives widespread appreciation.

With Karumbi’s achievement now officially recorded, attention has shifted to her unborn baby, which could continue her record-breaking legacy soon.

For now, Karumbi remains a global sensation, proving that even the smallest creatures can make a big impact in the world.
