Gulshan-e-Hadeed: Armed robbers loot peoples bus service

Media report says that, a bus conveying staff to night work has been attacked by armed men.

This attacked happened in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed Pakistan, in the midnight of Wednesday March 12, 2025.

According to the driver, Sher Jan, the  attack took place at the last stop of the bus service where they stopped to rest.

He said that the attacked involved six armed men without face mask.

Jan added that the armed men forced the crew inside the bus to stop and they move to where the cashier and a transport officer is seated.

In his statement to the Police, Jan said, “They held us at gunpoint and demanded cash.”

He added that the robbers also seized a security guard’s weapon and mobile phone before fleeing.

It is said that, the suspects escaped with Rs11.5 million in cash including other items and this has raised a serious concerns over security.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Malir confirmed that an investigation is underway and the suspects will be brought to book.

“We have gathered evidence from the scene, and a case has been registered. The suspects will be tracked down soon,” he said

Malir said that the CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the suspects making away with a bag of cash.

He also added that, the video captures two armed men clearly visible, holding weapons during the robbery.

It is said that the incident has raised serious security concerns, about the safety of public transport workers, especially during late hours.

The community resident has raised alarm on the recent rampant street crime, which have resulted in the death of at least 19 people since January in the provincial capital.

Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), confirmed this claims, stating that citizens were deprived of 3,773 motorcycles and 195 cars across the metropolis in February.

The figures includes 36 stolen phones, and 159 four-wheelers.

They added that 36 people were killed in separate incidents and 1,402 mobile phones were snatched in Karachi last month.

Meanwhile, there’s been a surge in robbery incidents in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed area, leaving residents and shopkeepers on high alert.

According to freelibrary.com, a recent incident involved a group of robbers on motorcycles snatching cash, mobile phones, and a security guard’s weapon from a private superstore.

The robbers escaped by firing shots into the air, and a large crowd gathered outside the store to express their anger and frustration.

This incident is just one of many in the area, with residents reporting that robbery has become a routine occurrence in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

They also noted the robbery of a car showroom and the owner’s house, where thieves made off with cash, gold jewelry, and other items worth over Rs9.5 million.

Furthermore, they added a CCTV footage of a grocery store robbery in the area has also gone viral on social media, showing armed assailants taking shoppers hostage and stealing cash.
