A renowned veterinary doctor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, has been found dead after gunmen abducted him and his three children from their home in Kubwa, Abuja.

Reports say the armed men stormed his residence in the early hours of the day, taking the doctor and his children away at gunpoint.

His lifeless body was later discovered dumped by the roadside, while his three children remain missing.

Dr. Ogbu was a former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter.

The shocking incident has sent waves of grief through the veterinary and medical communities.

Confirming the development, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, a close associate, wrote on Facebook that Ogbu had been kidnapped along with his three children.

“He was later found dead while the three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene,” he posted.

The murder has drawn widespread outrage from Nigerians, many of whom described it as another grim reminder of the rising insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.

This tragedy comes barely days after Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist and news anchor with Arise TV, was killed in her Katampe home during a robbery attack.

The 29-year-old lawyer-turned-broadcaster was known for her strong advocacy on gender equality and education reform.

Following her death, President Bola Tinubu directed security agencies to carry out a “swift and thorough investigation” to bring the killers to justice.

Now, with Dr. Ogbu’s murder, public anger is boiling over. Many residents say Abuja is no longer safe despite being Nigeria’s seat of power.

“Nigeria just happened to my age-long friend, Ifeanyi. His untimely death is a painful reminder of the insecurity that continues to destroy families,” a colleague wrote in a post titled A Great Loss.

The Nigerian Police have reportedly begun investigations into both killings, though no official statement has been released at the time of this report.

The veterinary community has described Dr. Ogbu as a passionate professional who devoted his life to animal care and public health.

Tributes continue to pour in across social media, with many calling for urgent security reforms.

The killings of Dr. Ogbu and Somtochukwu Maduagwu have intensified calls for improved policing, better intelligence gathering, and community safety measures in Abuja and across Nigeria.

As families grieve and residents demand answers, the nation once again faces the haunting question how many more lives must be lost before real security returns to Nigeria’s capital?
