The video interview, shared via the pastor’s social media shortly after the wedding, addressed the rumors and conversations that quickly spread online following the ceremony.
Some people questioned the intentions behind the marriage, with speculation that financial benefits may have influenced the union. Others raised concerns about the bride’s personal history, including assumptions about her virginity.
Responding directly, she stated, “I am not a virgin. I am a mother of three; the father of my children has passed away.” She also explained that she is originally from Edo State and was raised in Rivers State.
The marriage was arranged by the pastor to provide support and companionship for Aboy, who requires daily assistance due to his condition. As part of the union, the couple reportedly received significant gifts, including ₦10 million, a house, and an overseas trip.
According to the pastor, Aboy depends on help for everyday activities such as feeding and personal care, making constant support important.
The arrangement initially drew criticism from some members of the public, who described it as inappropriate. In response, the cleric later issued an apology, stating he never intended to demean any woman.
Sharing photos from the ceremony, he expressed optimism about the couple’s future and revealed that donations had also come in from members of the church community. He further claimed that Aboy had already shown signs of improvement, noting that he had begun feeding himself, and expressed hope for even greater progress in the months ahead.
