President Kagame to troops: Stay focused, Rwanda is secure

In a powerful and reassuring message to Rwandan troops deployed abroad, President Paul Kagame has emphasized that the nation’s security is stronger than ever, urging soldiers to concentrate on their missions without concern for the homeland.

This message comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, with Rwanda facing accusations and threats from neighboring countries.

The Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga, conveyed the President’s sentiments during an interview with IGIHE.

He highlighted that Rwandan troops, particularly those stationed in the Central African Republic (CAR), should remain steadfast in their duties, as the country’s security is fully under control.

Rwandan soldiers have been instrumental in peacekeeping and stabilization efforts in the CAR, where they have earned the trust and appreciation of local communities.

Brig. Gen. Rwivanga emphasized that the areas under Rwandan military control remain secure, and their presence continues to foster stability and cooperation.

“Our troops are not only fulfilling their mission but also building strong relationships with the communities they serve.

“Their work is a testament to Rwanda’s commitment to regional peace and security,” he said.

The President’s message comes amid ongoing tensions with Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), both of which have been accused of involvement in efforts to destabilize Rwanda.

Recent developments, including the M23 rebel group’s takeover of Goma in the DRC, have raised concerns about external threats.

Evidence and weapons discovered in Goma pointed to the involvement of neighboring countries in plans to undermine Rwanda’s government.

However, Brig. Gen. Rwivanga reassured the public that Rwanda’s borders are well-protected and that the country faces no immediate threats.

He noted that since the M23 assumed control of their positions, there have been no significant security issues along Rwanda’s borders.

“We can assure the public that Rwanda is safe, and the borders are well-secured. The concerns related to border security have been resolved.

“Our forces remain vigilant and continue to fulfill their duties with the utmost professionalism,” he stated.

“Our troops are performing their duties as expected, safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and borders.

“Everything is proceeding as usual, and our message here is to assure the troops that Rwanda is safe,” Brig. Gen. Rwivanga added.

The President’s reassurance is not only a morale booster for the troops but also a clear signal to the region that Rwanda is prepared to defend its sovereignty and maintain stability.
