It was a grand and spiritually uplifting occasion last Sunday as Hon. Emmanuel Chidebelu Igwegbe and his wife, Evangelist Agatha Ndidi Igwegbe (Adazion), were formally invested into the prestigious Knighthood of St. Christopher (KSC) in the Anglican Communion.
The colourful investiture ceremony, which took place at the Cathedral Church of St. Gabriel, Umueri, attracted a large gathering of clergy, political figures, traditional rulers, community leaders, and well-wishers from within and outside Anambra State. The solemn but celebratory event was presided over by the Bishop of the Niger West Diocese, Johnson Ekwe, who conducted the sacred rites in line with Anglican tradition.

In his sermon, Bishop Ekwe emphasized that knighthood in the Anglican Church is not merely an honorary title but a sacred responsibility bestowed upon individuals who have distinguished themselves through exemplary Christian living, service to humanity, and unwavering commitment to the growth of the Church. He described the Igwegbes as worthy recipients, noting their consistent support for church activities, philanthropy, and community development.

“This honour is not given based on status alone,” the Bishop stated. “It is earned through sacrifice, humility, and a life dedicated to God’s work. Those who are knighted are expected to uphold the highest standards of Christian conduct and continue to be shining examples in society.”
The investiture featured a series of symbolic rites, including prayers of consecration, the formal presentation of the knighthood regalia, and the administration of vows, marking the couple’s official induction into the Order of St. Christopher. The atmosphere was filled with reverence as hymns were rendered by the choir, while clergy members offered prayers for divine guidance and strength upon the newly invested knights.

Following the ceremony, Sir Emmanuel Igwegbe expressed profound gratitude to God for the honour, describing it as a humbling recognition of God’s grace in his life. He also appreciated the Church for finding him and his wife worthy of such a significant spiritual responsibility. Lady Agatha Igwegbe, in her remarks, reaffirmed their joint commitment to continue serving God faithfully and supporting initiatives that promote moral values and societal progress.

The investiture of Sir Emmanuel and Lady Agatha Igwegbe marks a notable milestone in their spiritual journey and serves as an inspiration to the faithful, reinforcing the values of service, dedication, and commitment within the Anglican Communion.
