Nollywood actress and philanthropist Sarah Martins has shared how she recently turned down a romantic marriage proposal, choosing instead to focus on her personal goals.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress revealed that a man had gone to great lengths to impress her, including booking an entire cinema for just the two of them before popping the question.
“After booking an entire cinema for just the two of us… he asked, ‘Will you be my woman?’ I politely said NO for now,” she wrote.
Explaining her decision, Martins noted that her past experiences in relationships have shaped her current mindset, adding that she is not ready for love at the moment.
“Omo e get as relationship go show u shege u will kuku focus on chasing money and leave love for who get am,” she added.
The actress made it clear that her priority now is building her career and financial stability rather than pursuing a romantic relationship.
Earlier this year, Martins also made headlines following an incident involving a dispatch rider who professed his love for her. The rider initially claimed he lost his job after the incident, prompting reactions online.
However, Martins later clarified that the claim was false, stating that the rider had only been cautioned. She explained that while she reported the situation due to what she described as disrespectful behaviour, she had no intention of causing him harm.
Despite rejecting his advances, she showed kindness by taking him out on a date, treating him to shopping and a luxury lunch. She emphasized that her actions were not romantic but a gesture of goodwill, reminding him that everyone deserves love and respect.
Martins also revealed that the man is married with a child, expressing disappointment over his actions, particularly for publicly denying his family while professing love to her.
The actress concluded by reiterating her stance on relationships, noting that she is not interested in settling and remains focused on her personal standards and ambitions.
