The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) recently arrested Adam Imam Yusuf.

He serves as a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State.

His arrest stems from allegations of diverting over N3 billion in public funds.

Authorities arrested Yusuf at his Gwagwalada home, ending his evasion. He now faces prosecution for alleged financial misconduct.

ICPC investigations identified retired Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin as the scheme’s alleged mastermind, according to official reports.

Investigators linked Yusuf and retired Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum to diverting funds through 92 unregistered companies.

Collaborators allegedly channeled public money through these CAC-unregistered firms alongside Yusuf and Gangum, investigators revealed.

This extensive network raises serious concerns about the accountability of public funds in Nigeria.

Shockingly, none of these companies held valid registration with the CAC, deepening the intrigue surrounding the scheme. As authorities prepare to file charges, this case highlights the persistent fight against corruption in Nigeria.

The investigation uncovered that siphoned funds were funneled into several companies, including Lahab Integrated and Gate Coast Properties. Allegedly, these funds facilitated the acquisition of over 18 properties, such as filling stations and other high-value assets.

To date, four of these properties have been forfeited to the government amid ongoing legal proceedings. This action underscores the commitment to tackling corruption and reclaiming misappropriated resources.

Efforts are also underway to recover the remaining assets linked to the fraudulent activities. Meanwhile, the ICPC has intensified its search for other suspects who remain at large.

The commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in public office, emphasizing that no individual involved in corrupt practices will escape justice.
