Ikot Isong Village Head, Late Eteidung Maurice Ikpat, to Be Laid to Rest, August 23

The family of the late Eteidung (Deacon) Maurice Isaiah Ikpat, the revered Village Head of Ikot Isong in Etinan Local Government Area, has announced his burial arrangements.

The nonagenarian monarch, who passed away on December 15, 2024, at the age of 93, will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at his residence, the House of the Lord Palace, Ikot Isong, Etinan.

A statement released by Prince Robert M. Ikpat, on behalf of the family, confirmed the burial date and called on friends, well-wishers, and the entire community to join in celebrating the life of the late royal father, who served his people with dedication and integrity.

As contained in his official biography, the late Eteidung Maurice Isaiah Ikpat was born on July 21, 1931, into the family of Late Isaiah Udo Ikpat and Late Maggie Adiaha Udo in Ikot Isong.
A man of deep faith, education, and community development, he rose through the ranks in public service before ascending the throne as Village Head in 1998, officially recognized by the Akwa Ibom State Government in 2004.

His reign was marked by peace, progress, and infrastructural development in Ikot Isong, earning him widespread admiration.

A two-term member of the Etinan Traditional Rulers Council (TRC), he was also a devoted Deacon in the Qua Iboe Church, Asuna, and an active member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship.

According to the biography, the late monarch had a peaceful transition after a brief illness.
His children were by his side in his final moments, and he passed on with a “handsome smile” on his face. Known for his fatherly wisdom, he consistently urged his family and community to uphold unity, faith, and love for God.

The funeral ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and government officials from across Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
The family has promised to release a detailed schedule of events leading to the interment.

Since the announcement of his passing, tributes have been pouring in from community leaders, church members, and associates who described him as a “pillar of peace” and a “selfless leader.” His contributions to education, agriculture, and community development remain indelible.
