This decision was announced by the council chairman, Prince Marcel Amadioha, in a statement signed by the secretary, Ogini Harcourt Uche, on June 18, 2025.

This is even as the council has announced the formation of Autonomous Communities’ vigilante groups in Imo State by Governor Hope Uzodimma.

According to him, the council was aware that some people were planning to form personal vigilante groups with which they planned to unleash mayhem on residents of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, adding that they knew the identities of such people.

The statement quoted the council boss as saying, “The Chairman warns that any existing non-government-approved vigilante group that defies the order in Ohaji/Egbema LGA will be arrested and prosecuted.

He also cautions those with the intention to form new vigilante groups to shelve the idea to avoid the full wrath of the law.

“Those planning to form new vigilante groups have been cautioned to shelve their plans to avoid facing the full wrath of the law”, he stated.

The council claims to have received intelligence reports indicating that some individuals are planning to form personal vigilante groups to cause chaos and harm to peaceful residents.

The council is supporting newly appointed government vigilante groups in the discharge of their duties to ensure security and protection of lives and property in their various autonomous communities

The statement read:”The Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, *Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha*, has approved the disbandment of all non-government-approved vigilante groups in Ohaji/Egbema.
