Imo: PDP condemns murder of Oru-West legal adviser, Nwowu
DDM NEWS
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Imo State chapter has condemned in very strong terms the gruesome murder of Barr. Chinedu Nwowu by unidentified gunmen suspected to be assassins on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Mgbidi.
This was contained in a press release of Friday January 31st 2025 by the party’s spokesman Lancelot Obiakor.
According to him, Barr. Nwowu until his untimely death was the Legal Adviser of the party in Oru West LGA and a staunch leader whose immense contributions and dedication towards the party’s growth was greatly felt.
He was a young and vibrant lawyer, mobilizer, leader and go-getter, admired and respected across the board. We will sorely miss him.
“The party commiserates with the entire Nwowu family over this tragic and irreparable loss, and pray the almighty God to grant the deceased’s soul eternal rest as well as give everyone affected by this great loss, including members of our party, the fortitude to bear it.
Importantly, we call on the security agencies to ensure justice for the slain legal luminary by doing everything to fish out the perpetrators and bring them under the full weight of the law.
” PDP notes that Barr. Nwowu’s death, regrettably, calls to mind the insecurity ravaging the State, a situation where hoodlums, assassins, terrorists and kidnappers have continued to prowl confidently.
Sadly, in the same month Barr. Nwowu was attacked and killed, unknown gunmen in one day killed no fewer than 27 people in coordinated attacks in Amaebu, Awo-Idemili, Eziawa, Umuhu-Okabia communities in Orsu Local Government Area of the State.
This includes the butchering of 9 men in a shop, leaving them in the pool of their blood.
What is most disheartening is that similar cases have been commonplace in Imo State since 2020.
The party, therefore, calls on the State Government led by Gov. Hope Uzodimma to wake up from its deep slumber to confront this hydra-headed monster head-on.
The government cannot continue to sit comfortably on its unprecedented failure to protect the lives and property of Imo citizens, despite the huge security votes and other resources at its disposal”, the statement read.
