Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has submitted a bid to acquire French Ligue 1 club FC Nantes, valued at up to €140 million.

This ambitious venture, facilitated through an English investment fund managed by his father, Michael Arnold, marks a significant milestone in Alexander-Arnold’s business endeavors.

Alexander-Arnold’s bid comprises an upfront payment of €80 million, a seller credit of €20 million, and potential bonuses of up to €40 million.

Current Nantes owner Waldemar Kita, struggling with French soccer’s TV rights and stadium development, is open to selling.

However, Kita’s desire to recoup most of his losses may complicate negotiations.

This bid follows in the footsteps of Kylian Mbappe’s recent acquisition of Caen, signaling a growing trend of player-turned-owners in French football.

Alexander-Arnold’s investment in FC Nantes demonstrates his commitment to the sport beyond his playing career.

Notably, Alexander-Arnold already holds minority shares in French Formula 1 team Alpine F1 Team, showcasing his diversified business portfolio.

His experience in football and familiarity with the French sports landscape position him well to navigate the complexities of club ownership.

The outcome of Alexander-Arnold’s bid remains uncertain, with multiple meetings held, including video conferences and face-to-face talks in Geneva and London.

Football fans eagerly await the resolution, as this deal’s success would not only reshape FC Nantes but also redefine the role of players in football ownership.
