The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set May 11 for crucial decisions on admission benchmarks for the 2026 academic cycle, as it holds its annual policy meeting.
The examination body announced this on Sunday through its spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin.
Mr. Benjamin said the high-level gathering will take place in Abuja, bringing together stakeholders across the tertiary education sector to review admission policies and outline guidelines for the 2026/2027 academic session.
He further revealed that the meeting will be held at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, located at Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.
According to Benjamin, the session will include major policy directives from the Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, noting that the meeting plays a central role in determining the direction of admissions for the coming year.
“The Board’s annual policy meeting on admissions remains a crucial platform where stakeholders determine the minimum acceptable UTME scores, as well as admission guidelines and policies for tertiary institutions,” he said.
He added that deliberations will emphasise adherence to established admission procedures while formally launching the 2026/2027 admission process.
Expected participants include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from institutions nationwide. Representatives from regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) are also slated to attend.
