Seven suspected bandits have been killed by a combined team of security operatives in Ruwan-Doruwa village, located in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State during an attack.
The spokesman of the command in Katsina State, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He said an operation was launched following a distress call reporting the attack.
“On Jan. 18, at about 9 a.m., a distress call was received at the Dutsin-Ma Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Ruwan-Doruwa village.
“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO, swiftly in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the Katsina Security Community Watch Corps, and the vigilante, mobilised and responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in neutralising seven suspected bandits, while the remaining fled with various degrees of injuries, and abandoned all the suspected rustled animals,” Aliyu said.
The recovered livestock included 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and a dog.
While commending the operatives, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, hailed their courage, professionalism, and swift response.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The commissioner further urged members of the public to assist security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence to aid efforts in combating crime.
