A notorious terrorist commander, Ibn Ali, has surrendered to Nigerian troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State, alongside his weapons.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that this significant development was confirmed by Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a statement issued on Friday.

He said troops also apprehended five collaborators aiding terrorists and rescued four hostages in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The surrendered commander reportedly handed over his weapons, while troops recovered caches of arms and ammunition from other suspects.

In a further breakthrough, troops also retrieved and safely detonated multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). A total of ₦822,500.00 was also recovered during the operation.

In the North-West, troops of Operation Fasin Yamma arrested five suspected terrorists and rescued two kidnapped victims during separate raids.

Items recovered included firearms, ammunition, motorcycles, and the sum of ₦28,720.00.

Additionally, a terrorist camp was destroyed, along with equipment used by the criminals.

Meanwhile, in the Niger Delta, troops of Operation Delta Safe intensified the crackdown on oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

According to Kangye, 15 illegal refining sites were dismantled and eight suspects were arrested.

Troops recovered petroleum products worth over ₦263.8 million, including 198,482 litres of stolen crude oil, 63,846 litres of illegally refined AGO (diesel), and 947 litres of PMS (petrol).

Also destroyed were 24 crude oil cooking ovens, 26 dugout pits, 19 storage tanks, 21 drums, 9 boats, and 15 illegal refining sites.

In addition, troops recovered IEDs, IED-making materials, arms, ammunition, and nine vehicles used by the suspects.

Major General Kangye emphasized the military’s commitment to sustaining momentum in all theatres of operation, ensuring that enemies of the state are denied freedom of action.
