JUST IN: Tinubu appoints eight new Permanent Secretaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated eight permanent secretaries to the federal civil service, yesterday.

According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who took to his X handle to relay the information stated that the recent development occurred in order to cover current and upcoming vacancies in a few states and geopolitical zones.

The statement reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed eight permanent secretaries in the federal civil service to fill existing and impending vacancies in some states and geopolitical zones.

“It was the second set of eight permanent secretaries appointed by the president, following those appointed last June from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Jigawa, Ondo, Zamfara,  South East and South-South.

“The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation recommended that the new permanent secretaries be appointed after diligent selection.

“They  are: Onwusoro Maduka Ihemelandu (Abia State), Ndiomu Ebiogeh Philip (Bayelsa State), Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia (Ebonyi State) and Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam (Enugu State).

“Others include: Kalba Danjuma Usman (Gombe State), Usman Salihu Aminu (Kebbi State), Oyekunle Patience Nwakuso (Rivers State) and Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna State).

“President Tinubu urges the new permanent secretaries to demonstrate greater commitment, diligence, and innovation in serving the nation”, the statement concluded.

 

Earlier last week, Tinubu appointed Acting CG for Correctional Service

Nwakuche Ndidi has been named Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service by President Bola Tinubu.

His nomination follows the expiration of the term of incumbent CG Haliru Nababa, the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board secretary Ja’afaru Ahmed said in a statement on Friday.

Nababa was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on February 18, 2021.

The source states that Mr. Ndidi’s appointment will become effective on December 15, 2024.

Ahmed stated: “The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa.

“His appointment takes effect from December 15, 2024.

“Nwakuche, born on November 26, 1966, hails from Oguta in Imo State.

“Until his appointment, he was the Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate.

“He is a fellow of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic.

“The President further enjoined him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new capacity”, he added.
