Kano: NDLEA Operatives arrested over shooting of 19-Year-Old Girl

Kano police arrested two NDLEA officers after they allegedly shot 19-year-old Patience Samuel in Jaba quarters.

Promptly responding, authorities launched an investigation to address escalating public demands for accountability.

The fatal shooting erupted Wednesday night at 10:55 PM, sparking immediate community outrage and swift police action.

Meanwhile, intelligence sources cited by Zagazola Makama confirmed the Kano State Police Command rapidly apprehended the suspects post-incident.

Authorities launched investigations shortly afterward amid mounting demands for accountability in the shocking case.

Police officers arrived at the scene, where they evacuated the victim to Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital. Medical personnel at the hospital later confirmed her death.

The arrested NDLEA officials have been identified as Nass Ridwan Usman, aged 23, and Sna Ismaila Yakubu, aged 26. Both individuals were attached to the agency’s Kano state headquarters. Items recovered from the operatives include a motorcycle, one live round of ammunition, four empty shells of 7.62×51mm ammunition, and two knives.

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Authorities are working to determine what led to the fatal incident and whether it was an act of negligence or intentional misconduct.

NDLEA personnel face renewed scrutiny over another fatal shooting allegation. This follows previous claims linking officers to violent incidents.

In November 2024, agency officials allegedly killed Faisal Yakubu Hussaini in Dangi, Kanam LGA headquarters, Plateau State, marking a troubling pattern of violence.

. Community members alleged that during a raid on a lodge in the area, NDLEA operatives fired gunshots to disperse youths, resulting in Hussaini’s death.

The NDLEA has yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest incident in Kano.
