Dr. Kemi Olunloyo: A Spy, a Propagandist, or an Unstable Voice in Nigeria’s Political Landscape?

Dr. Kemi Olunloyo has long been a divisive figure in Nigeria’s media space, often making bold and controversial statements that shape public discourse. From claiming insider knowledge about political players to her recent outbursts against Rivers State, she positions herself as an authority—yet her credibility remains in question. As her narratives shift, one fundamental question emerges: Is Kemi Olunloyo a government-sponsored propagandist, a spy, or simply an unstable individual playing mind games on Nigerians?

The Spy Allegation: Who Does Olunloyo Really Work For?

Olunloyo’s past affiliations raise serious concerns. Having spent years in the United States and Canada before her deportation in 2012, speculation surrounds her true motives. Her abrupt return to Nigeria and reinvention as an “investigative journalist” suggest a calculated agenda.

Her statements, particularly on political crises, appear designed to steer public perception. She repeatedly discourages Nigerians from engaging with Rivers State, painting it as a hub of chaos and insecurity. This narrative benefits specific political figures who thrive on fear-mongering and instability. If she is not a spy, why do her messages consistently align with the interests of those in power?

Additionally, her recent appointment as Special Adviser on Drug Abuse Education by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu raises red flags. Why would a controversial journalist, known for misinformation, be entrusted with such a sensitive role? Could this be a reward for services rendered in manipulating public sentiment?

A Tool for Disunity: The Propagandist Agenda

Olunloyo’s attacks on Rivers State suggest an agenda to create division. Her rhetoric, labeling the state as a den of cultism and kidnapping, fosters fear and discourages economic or social engagement. If her claims are true, why doesn’t she propose solutions instead of amplifying chaos? Why does she assume greater knowledge of Rivers State than its own people?

Her history of burning bridges is also notable. She has publicly insulted and labeled past benefactors as “fools” after allegedly benefiting from their support. Does she fabricate alliances only to betray them later for personal gain? Her approach does not unite Nigerians but fractures trust, fueling discord.

Unstable and Manipulative: A Mind Game on the Masses

Beyond the concerns of espionage and propaganda, Olunloyo’s erratic behavior raises questions about her stability. She has repeatedly switched narratives—from cursing the people of Rivers State to later retracting her statements, from accusing her father of being a ritualist to making wild claims about religious leaders. Her public persona thrives on sensationalism rather than credibility.

Despite claiming to champion democracy, she has made no meaningful contributions to governance or policy reforms. A true democratic voice exposes problems and offers solutions. Yet, Olunloyo remains fixated on self-promotion, crafting an image of victimhood and superiority through social media.

Conclusion: A Dangerous Voice Without a Cause

Dr. Kemi Olunloyo remains a contentious figure in Nigerian politics and media. Whether she is a state-sponsored propagandist, a foreign spy, or merely an unstable woman seeking relevance, one fact is clear—her influence is more disruptive than constructive. She thrives on division, controversy, and misinformation, distracting Nigerians from real national issues.

Nigerians must ask themselves: Is Olunloyo’s voice adding value to democracy, or is she a tool for disunity? Until she demonstrates a tangible, positive impact on governance and national unity, she will remain a volatile figure whose words create confusion rather than clarity.
