Lagos Procurement Agency urges Officers to promote good governance

The Lagos State Public Procurement Agency calls on newly recruited Procurement Officers to promote good governance actively.

Moreover, they urged officers to ensure public resources are efficiently utilized to deliver goods and services to Lagos residents.

During the opening ceremony of a two-day induction program, the Director-General, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, issued this directive.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Onafowote congratulated the inductees for their selection amidst intense competition for limited positions.

Furthermore, he emphasized that officers must prepare for challenges and demonstrate a willingness to make sacrifices for a progressive public service.

He underscored transparency, accountability, and integrity, stressing adherence to established rules and regulations governing public procurement and civil service operations.

Mr. Onafowote warned against circumventing due processes in procurement activities, cautioning that severe penalties await officers guilty of misconduct.

Additionally, he urged the inductees to exhibit diligence, thoroughness, and discipline in their duties to avoid legal repercussions.

The Director-General highlighted the importance of teamwork, encouraging officers to collaborate harmoniously with colleagues and stakeholders.

Moreover, he advised them to take full advantage of the State Government’s regular training and capacity development programs.

Mr. Onafowote noted that innovative, creative, and loyal employees are highly valued in the Lagos State Public Service.

He added that, with discipline and determination, the new officers could achieve excellence and join distinguished public servants.

The two-day induction program featured presentations on Public Procurement Law, Civil Service Ethics, and Planning and Budgeting Procedures.

Additionally, sessions covered Procurement Processes, Digital Skills, and e-Procurement, equipping officers with necessary knowledge and tools for effective roles.

The event served as an orientation, upholding good governance principles in Lagos State.
