Mali Sacks National Team Coach, Eric Chelle

Published

on

The Malian Football Federation has fired head coach Eric Chelle, effective immediately.

The decision comes days after Mali’s goalless draw against Madagascar in a Group I World Cup qualifier. No reason was given for the termination, but Chelle’s departure follows a disappointing performance by the national team.

Chelle, 46, was appointed in May 2022 and led Mali to the quarterfinals of the 2023 African Cup of Nations. He had previous coaching experience in the French lower divisions. The search for a new head coach is underway, and the football community awaits the announcement of Chelle’s successor.

The sudden change may impact Mali’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers, and fans are eager to see how the team will perform under new leadership.
