Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the the move comes as Pep Guardiola’s defending champions look to strengthen their squad amid an underwhelming season in the Premier League.

After a promising start, City suffered a disappointing pre-Christmas slump and now find themselves in sixth place, with fewer goals than mid-table sides like Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur.

With this in mind, Guardiola publicly appealed for reinforcements in January, and his request has been answered.

Following extensive negotiations, Man City have reached an “agreement in principle” with Eintracht Frankfurt for Marmoush, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins.

This move is seen as a response to City’s struggles in attack.

Marmoush has been in exceptional form this season, directly contributing to 24 league goals (15 scored and 9 assists).

His impressive performances have caught the eye of many top clubs, including Man City, who are keen to add firepower to their squad.

The deal is significant, given that Frankfurt have been very clear about their valuation of Marmoush, reportedly around €80m (£67m).

While Man City had a bid rejected by the German club just a day before the announcement of this agreement, negotiations continued, and a breakthrough was made.

This reflects the high regard in which Marmoush is held in the Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old Egypt international joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg just 18 months ago, and since then, his value has skyrocketed due to his standout performances this season.

Man City have already committed over £60m to the signings of young centre-backs Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov this month, indicating their intent to strengthen key areas of the team.

Although it is unclear whether veteran right-back Kyle Walker will remain at the Etihad, City are not expected to demand a transfer fee for him.

With Marmoush’s arrival now imminent, it is clear that Man City are prioritizing attacking reinforcements to boost their title challenge.

Frankfurt are set to face Borussia Dortmund on Friday, with Marmoush having played in the club’s first game after the winter break, scoring during their 4-1 win over Freiburg.

However, given the advanced state of the negotiations with Man City, he is expected to miss the upcoming match as his transfer nears completion.

For Man City, this move represents a significant step in their efforts to regain their best form and challenge for the Premier League title.
