American actress Marissa Bode has ignited a major conversation online after sharing her experience of being denied boarding on a flight due to her disability, despite prior confirmation from her team about travel accommodations.

The Wicked star, who portrays Nessarose, took to social media to recount the incident in detail, expressing both shock and disappointment. According to her, what was meant to be a routine connecting flight turned into a distressing experience when airline staff allegedly refused her entry because she uses a wheelchair.

Bode explained that her manager had contacted the airline ahead of time to confirm accessibility arrangements, making the situation even more frustrating. Upon arriving at the gate, she said she was met with a blunt question about whether she could stand and when she answered no, she was told she would not be allowed to board.

The incident has raised serious concerns about accessibility in smaller regional airlines, particularly those operating aircraft that require passengers to climb stairs. While the airline reportedly cited internal policies and regulatory exemptions due to aircraft size, many online users argue that this highlights a larger systemic issue in air travel for people with disabilities.

Following the backlash, the airline’s mobility department reportedly reached out to Bode with an apology, acknowledging the situation and expressing a willingness to review their procedures. Bode herself noted that the response seemed sincere, but emphasized the need for real, lasting change to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The story has since gone viral, with many advocates and fans calling for stricter enforcement of accessibility standards across all airlines regardless of size so that no passenger is left behind due to physical limitations.
