Nigerian fashion influencer, Kene Okonkwo (formerly Kenechukwu Obiejesi), has stirred reactions across social media following a court victory involving her father, billionaire businessman Obi Jackson.
Shortly after news of the legal win surfaced, Kene took to Instagram to share a message that many online users interpreted as a subtle but pointed jab at fellow billionaire Femi Otedola.
In her post, Kene questioned the idea of legacy and wealth display, writing:
“A legacy is not by riding bikes abroad and paying blogs to publicise wealth that is so common.”
Her statement quickly gained traction, with many linking it to Otedola, especially amid ongoing speculation surrounding the case and alleged property disputes.
Kene didn’t stop there. She went further to criticize what she described as attempts to use influence to acquire what doesn’t belong to others.
“How do you explain to your children that you saw someone else’s building and wanted it so bad you wasted your time, manipulating the political systems to try and take it, but still lost. What a joke,” she wrote.
Emphasizing her family’s values, she added:
“If you like something so much, the time spent in launching books, why not use it to learn how the people who actually made it from scratch did it. We are and have always been confident because we don’t take or envy what belongs to others; we build our own with dedication, time, hard work, and most importantly, prayer.”
Her remarks have since sparked widespread debate online, with supporters praising her boldness while others questioned the need for public commentary on such sensitive matters.
As conversations continue to unfold, the situation highlights the growing intersection between business, influence, and social media narratives in Nigeria’s elite circles.
