Mass Exodus into SDP: Chair warns against financial inducement

The Imo State Chairman of Social Democratic Party SDP, Amb. Henry Ifeanyi Eluwa, has urged the Party members and the Decampees, to return to their respective areas and consolidate on the mandate of the party.
Amb. Eluwa stated this while addressing members of his party and the State Working Committee(SWC) on Wednesday 19th March 2025 at the Party’s Secretariat in Owerri.
“Dear comrades, it is a pleasure to see all of you gathered here today, united in our mission to advance the principles and values of the SDP.
We are not just a political party; we are a movement committed to the welfare of our people.”
We emphasize on the importance of teamwork, he stated.
“The time for division is past; we must work together for the benefit of our party.
Each of you, especially our Local Government Area chairmen, carries a vital responsibility.
I urge you to return to your respective areas and put your house in order, unify your teams, engage with your constituents, and create an environment ripe for collaboration and growth.”
Amb. Eluwa, however, shifted the focus to one of the most crucial aspects of their strategy, which is the grassroots mobilization.
“Our target demographic is clear, we must engage with the youth, the women and the less privileged.
These are the individuals who will ignite change. Let us not forget that true change stems from the ground up.”
He therefore issued a stern warning against the dark underbelly of politics.
“I must emphasize, my fellow party members, avoid any financial inducement that may jeopardize our integrity and moral compass.
While it may be tempting to compromise for temporary gains, such actions would ultimately destroy the very essence of what we stand for as a party.
Our integrity must remain intact if we are to rise as a credible alternative,” Eluwa stated.
Recall that recently a full structure of a pressure grouNLP collapsed into SDP thereby increasing its membership base.
