MASSOB declares May 30 Biafra Day, holds commemorative Church prayers

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) led by Comrade Uchenna Madu has declared two days commemorative events for the observation of 2022 annual celebration of Biafra day.

This was contained in a press statement issued by MASSOB National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, and made available to News Band.

According to Comrade Edeson Samuel, MASSOB will observe, commemorate and celebrate the 55 year anniversary of Biafra declaration by its foremost leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu on 30th May, 2022.

To that effect, the group observed the May 30th Biafra day with commemorative Christian Church services/ prayers across all the churches in the South East region on Sunday, 29th May, 2022, for “Biafra actualization and restoration through God’s intervention”.

Speaking further, he said: “There will be candle night indoor prayers called holy vigil on the night of May 29th for the repose of the souls of those that died for the sake of Biafra during the Nigeria genocidal war against Biafra and those that was killed unjustly for Biafra since the inception of the new Biafra self-determination struggle.

“The traditional Igbo native priests are to join in this great commemorative events for the celebration of Biafra.

“On 30th May 2022, there will be a nationwide sit at home exercise as a mark of honour and solidarity for Biafra and her ever greatest leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Eze Igbo Gburugburu).

“There shall be a special prayers and supplication for the fallen Biafra heroes during the Nigeria –Biafra war and our comrades that were killed by Nigeria security agents including the people of Biafra that died in the hands of Islamic Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen.”

He enjoined people of Biafra all over the world to observe the candle night prayers in their respective homes as a mark of respect and honour to the father land.

“The event is also a reminder to the visions and commandments of our great ancestors that we are not Nigerians but Biafrans,” he noted.

He asked Biafra agitators to get ready for the celebration of this great anniversary which will be held to urge members of the group to continue the self-determination movement for Biafra actualization and restoration.
