LAFIA, Nigeria — Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has forwarded the names of eight commissioner nominees to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s executive council.
The nominees were transmitted to the Assembly in a formal communication from the governor, requesting lawmakers to consider and confirm their appointments in accordance with constitutional provisions. The move is expected to fill vacant positions within the State Executive Council and enhance the delivery of government policies and programmes.
Governor Sule said the nominations form part of his administration’s commitment to ensuring effective governance and improving service delivery across key sectors of the state’s economy. He expressed confidence that the nominees possess the experience and competence required to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s development agenda.
Following the receipt of the governor’s request, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly referred the nominees to the appropriate legislative process for screening. The lawmakers are expected to assess the qualifications, experience and suitability of each nominee before making recommendations for confirmation.
The Assembly is expected to conduct the screening exercise in the coming days, during which the nominees will respond to questions from legislators on their educational background, professional experience, public service record and plans for the ministries they may eventually oversee.
The appointments come as Governor Sule continues efforts to reposition his administration to address developmental priorities, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment and economic growth.
