In a bid to alleviate poverty and boost economic activities in the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched Project H.O.P.E (Holistic Opportunity Project of Engagement) in Itak Ikot Udo, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

A team led by Mr. Blessing Fubara, Lead Consultant of Project H.O.P.E, recently conducted an inspection and verification of 100 hectares of land for the project.
The team also included Mrs. Madume Winifred, Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, representing the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

Mr. Fubara reiterated that the project aims to bring renewed hope to the people of the Niger Delta and that the inspection and verification process is crucial for prompt surveying to meet the necessary requirements before the planting season begins.

“We express our gratitude to the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku and NDDC, for bringing ‘Renewed Hope’ to the people of the Niger Delta. Prior to this meeting, we conducted thorough investigations by consulting with the youth, women, and elders of this community.

“This inspection and verification process is crucial for prompt surveying, so that we can meet the necessary requirements before the planting season begins. We want to reassure the people of Itak Ikot Udo that NDDC is here to offer hope and support,” he explained.

“We are committed to ensuring that this project is a success and that the benefits are felt by the community,” added.

Mrs. Madume Winifred, Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, emphasized the importance of the project in promoting sustainable development in the region. “This project aligns with the NDDC’s mandate to promote sustainable development in the Niger Delta region. We are committed to supporting initiatives that improve the lives of our people,” she said.

With the inspection and verification of the land complete, the project is set to commence, bringing hope and prosperity to the people of Itak Ikot Udo and the surrounding communities.

This initiative demonstrates the NDDC’s commitment to empowering the people of the Niger Delta region and promoting sustainable development.

The Project H.O.P.E. was launched in July 2023, and it aims to create 10,000 jobs for youths in the region, with a minimum of 1,000 jobs per state.

The project focuses on agro-allied investments and aims to address unemployment and promote economic growth in the region.
