NDDC to construct pavilion, other infrastructures at Akwa Ibom Varsity

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is set to construct an ultra-modern pavilion at Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

This exciting development was announced by Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State in the NDDC, during a courtesy visit to the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Nse Essien, on Thursday.

“I am thrilled to announce that the NDDC will construct a state-of-the-art pavilion for the university, which will be completed in record time.

“This project is part of our commitment to enhancing the educational infrastructure in the Niger Delta region, aligning with the Commission’s mandate to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life for our people,” he declared during the event covered by Diaspora Digital Media.

Apostle Nkono emphasized that the State Office of the Commission, which he superintends over, remains “passionate about driving initiatives that benefit our communities,” adding that the pavilion will serve as a hub for academic excellence and innovation.

He also promised that apart from the pavilion, the Commission will forge possible partnership with the institution to complete ongoing projects, scholarships and other interventions.

The NDDC Rep lauded the management of AKSU for propelling the institution to success.

A Director in the Commission, Dr Charles Akpan, also thumbed up the institution’s success trajectory, and assured Prof Essien and the University of NDDC’s commitment to delivering the project in record time.

Vice Chancellor, Prof Essien, in his response, expressed gratitude, noting that the generous gesture will greatly benefit students, providing a conducive environment for learning and research.

“With this, Akwa Ibom State University will continue to succeed. We are proud of this moment, and we can’t wait to see the project come to fruition,” he stated.

He mentioned strides recorded under his tenure as Vice Chancellor to include, more accreditation of courses, peace, security, staff welfare, infrastructure upgrade, research, and others.

The VC, hailing the effectiveness and dedication of Apostle Nkono in the NDDC, expressed belief that the Commission in the State is in safe hands.

“We are committed to collaborating with NDDC to attract high-impact projects which addresses the needs of our university. We will work closely with AKSU to ensure seamless execution and timely completion of this project,” he further promised.

The Registrar, Dr Ebi Eno Ibanga echoed the VC’s sentiment, appreciating the NDDC’s support and looking forward to the timely completion of this project.

During the visit, Commissioner Nkono and the university management inspected ongoing projects including faculty buildings and a hospital, identifying areas for potential collaboration and development.

This strategic partnership between the NDDC and AKSU promises a brighter future for education and development in the region.
