Veteran Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has raised concerns over the rising cases of untimely deaths, attributing the trend to the abandonment of traditional practices.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) noted that he believes that neglecting traditions and embracing foreign religions has disrupted the balance in society, leading to severe consequences.

DDM confirmed In a recent Instagram post, Edochie lamented the increasing deaths of young people in their twenties, thirties, and forties.

He expressed concern that these tragedies are far from normal and called for urgent action to address the issue.

According to him, traditions hold the key to maintaining harmony and protection, but society’s drift toward westernization has caused a disconnect from these vital practices.

Edochie argued that many of the spirits traditionally revered for their protective powers have been angered by neglect.

He explained that traditions served as a foundation for stability and safety, ensuring that communities were guarded against harm.

However, the influence of foreign religions and cultures has overshadowed these ancient practices, creating a spiritual void with dire repercussions.

“Too many young lives are being cut short these days.

“People in their twenties, thirties, and forties are dying at an alarming rate.

This is not normal,” he wrote.

“It is because we have abandoned our traditions and replaced them with the ways of oyinbo people.

“The spirits that once protected us and our lands are now angry.

“We must reconnect with our traditions, which are pure, powerful, and deeply rooted in our identity.”

The actor’s statements have sparked a heated debate among his followers, with some agreeing on the need to revisit traditional practices, while others questioned the relevance of traditions in a modern society.

Supporters of his stance argue that returning to traditions could restore balance and reduce the prevalence of untimely deaths.

Critics, however, see his views as an oversimplification of a complex issue involving health, lifestyle, and socio-economic factors.

Edochie’s plea underscores the ongoing conversation about the importance

While some believe that modernization has eroded core cultural values, others emphasize that traditions should evolve alongside societal changes.

The actor’s call for a revival of traditional practices challenges Nigerians to reflect on their heritage and its potential role in addressing today’s challenges.

By bringing traditions to the forefront, Yul Edochie has ignited a dialogue about the spiritual and cultural dynamics shaping modern Nigeria.
