NIALS commends EFCC Chairman for progress in anti-corruption fight

Abuja, Nigeria – March 18, 2025: Nigeria’s fight against economic crimes recently accelerated when Professor Abdulqadir Ibrahim Abikan, Director-General of NIALS, endorsed EFCC’s efforts.

He emphasized their critical role in strengthening legal frameworks and ensuring accountability.

By publicly supporting the agency, Professor Abikan highlighted its pivotal contributions to combating fraud and restoring institutional trust.

This endorsement reinforces Nigeria’s commitment to eradicating corruption through collaborative legal action.

He specifically praised Chairman Ola Olukoyede’s anti-corruption strategies, highlighting their role in enhancing accountability and transparency nationwide.

By actively addressing fraud and misconduct, Olukoyede has strengthened institutional frameworks.

Consequently, public trust in governance continues rising, reflecting the tangible progress achieved under his leadership.

During a Tuesday visit to EFCC headquarters, Abikan commended Olukoyede’s remarkable strides, calling them vital for national progress.

Leading a NIALS delegation, Abikan emphasized the commission’s achievements under Olukoyede’s leadership, describing them as impressive and transformative for Nigeria’s future.

He underscored the importance of sustained collaboration to strengthen institutional anti-graft frameworks.

“We are very happy with what the EFCC is doing. The whole world is applauding the good work that EFCC is doing.

Furthermore, Abikan expressed strong confidence that Nigeria will achieve its national goals, citing the EFCC’s effectiveness alongside other agencies.

Professor Abikan clarified the visit aimed to explore collaborations between NIALS and the EFCC, specifically in research and training.

He highlighted NIALS’ role as Nigeria’s leading legal research institution, committed to training lawyers, judges, and non-lawyers in diverse legal fields.

Additionally, he stated, “NIALS partners with multiple agencies for training and seeks EFCC’s inclusion.”

He noted that EFCC staff previously attended NIALS programs and emphasized plans to deepen the partnership.

Professor Abikan also highlighted past collaborations between the two institutions, particularly in areas such as forensic analysis and evidence gathering.

“On many occasions, we have invited EFCC staff to provide expertise during our training sessions.

We acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of EFCC in these areas,” he added.

In his response, Mr. Olukoyede expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed the EFCC’s readiness to deepen its partnership with NIALS.
