Nigerian university cracks down on students for offenses, expels 19

The University of Ilorin in Kwara state, north central Nigeria, has decided to expel and rusticate 19 students, including six final year students, for their involvement in different offenses.

The decision was made by the vice chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole, based on the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

The students were found guilty of misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, and other offenses.

The penalties for these offenses range from rustication for one semester or one academic session to expulsion.

The affected students were studying at different academic levels, including 100, 200, 300, and 400 Levels.
