A cross-section of Nigerians has reacted with disappointment over the failed federal government recruitment website.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the Civil Service Commission announced the recruitment exercise in February 2025 under President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Since its launch, the recruitment portal, www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng, has remained inaccessible to job seekers.

The government assured applicants that the portal would be active until March 10, 2025.

Despite repeated attempts, many Nigerians have been unable to access the website.

Frustration has grown among job seekers who had high hopes for the recruitment exercise.

Many now believe the recruitment process was never intended for the public.

Job seekers express frustration over website failure

Several applicants have taken to social media to complain about their inability to access the recruitment site.

Ibrahim Gadoki claimed that the recruitment exercise was similar to previous ones, where slots were given to APC stakeholders.

According to him, the process was never designed to be fair or transparent.

Kayode Bamidele accused the government of deceiving Nigerians while secretly allocating jobs among politicians’ children.

He warned that people were losing faith in the government due to repeated job scams.

Fati Abas shared her personal experience, stating that the site loads fully but never opens.

She described the process as fraudulent and urged Nigerians to demand better governance.

Abanikoro Suraju alleged that lawmakers and governors had already distributed the available job slots among themselves.

Many social media users agreed that the recruitment was merely a political gimmick.

This is not the first time a federal government recruitment process has sparked controversy.

Over the years, successive administrations have faced allegations of corruption in job allocations.

Many Nigerians believe that federal jobs are reserved for those with political connections.

Merit-based employment has largely been abandoned in favor of nepotism.

In February 2025, the government announced vacancies in various MDAs, urging Nigerians to apply online.

Despite these promises, the failed recruitment website has fueled suspicions of foul play.

Thousands of unemployed graduates had hoped for a fair opportunity but were left disappointed.

Some Nigerians argue that these failed recruitment exercises are deliberate efforts to exclude the masses.

Critics insist that without transparency, citizens will continue to distrust the government.

Growing calls for transparency and accountability

As frustration mounts, affected applicants are calling for urgent government intervention.

Civil society organizations are demanding a clear explanation regarding the failed recruitment portal.

Many believe that the website’s inaccessibility was a calculated move to favor certain individuals.

Several advocacy groups are now pushing for an independent investigation into the recruitment process.

Some activists are urging international organizations to intervene and expose corrupt employment practices.

A youth-led movement, “Nigerian Youths for Employment Justice,” has issued a strong statement.

The group warned that mass protests would erupt if the government failed to act.

They called for a fully transparent recruitment process where every applicant has an equal chance.

Protesters have threatened to escalate their complaints to international labor organizations.

They argue that the continued lack of job opportunities fuels poverty and insecurity.

Unemployed Nigerians are urging the government to address the country’s growing unemployment crisis.

Some believe that if the situation remains unchanged, public demonstrations will intensify.

The widespread discontent reflects deeper frustrations with the government’s handling of employment policies.

Government silence increases public suspicion

So far, there has been no official response from the federal government regarding the failed recruitment website.

The Civil Service Commission has also remained silent on the issue.

Many Nigerians see this lack of communication as an admission of guilt.

If the recruitment exercise was genuine, citizens argue, the government would have fixed the website.

The absence of an official explanation has only fueled more conspiracy theories.

Some believe the government may quietly appoint candidates without public knowledge.

Others suspect that the website was intentionally disabled to prevent public participation.

Without urgent government intervention, trust in future recruitment exercises will continue to decline.

Public confidence in government employment policies is already at an all-time low.

Nigerians are demanding fairness, transparency, and accountability in all future recruitment processes.

If these demands are ignored, civil unrest and dissatisfaction will likely increase.
