Notorious cultist arrested in Uyo, firearm recovered

Police investigates the death of a beggar in Niger State

In a decisive operation, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious cultist, Kingsley Effiong Emmanuel, 26, and recovered a locally-made pistol allegedly used to terrorize innocent members of the public.

According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the operation took place on January 25, 2025, at about 0950hrs, at Emmanuel’s residence in Nsukara Offot village, Nwaniba Road, Uyo.

The Police Commissioner, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their gallantry and issued a stern warning to criminal elements, stating that the Command is “not only vigilant but also strategically positioned to track and dismantle any criminal network.”

CP Azare assured residents that the Police will continue to work tirelessly to ensure their safety and security, and urged them to remain vigilant and cooperate with the Police by providing credible information.

The arrest of Emmanuel is the latest in a series of efforts by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to rid the state of criminal elements.

The Command has been working to disrupt and dismantle cult groups and other criminal networks operating in the state.

The Police have urged anyone with information about Emmanuel’s activities or other criminal elements to come forward and assist in the investigation.
