Following the celebration of two years in office of the governor of Anambra State by Chief Willie Obiano, the next stage is for the wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) to complete the remaining two years in office as the governor has earnestly commenced from March 17, 2016.
Governor Obiano ended his two years in office with a celebration at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka on March 17, 2016, two years after he took over power from the former governor, Peter Obi.
After the celebration by pockets of sycophants, the way was paved for the wife to take over as governor and complete two remaining years.
The takeover from Willie Obiano by his wife, Ebelechukwu (Osodieme) is not unconnected with the insensitivity to governance and vain self-glorification of the governor which has not gone down well with leaders and elders in the State.
To this effect, stakeholders have beamed searchlight on some notable personalities to pencil down to take over from governor Obiano after a planned impeachment of which the members of the House of Assembly are privy to.
The lawmakers are equally not happy with governor Obiano and are battle ready to push for the impeachment.
It was gathered that Obi was mandated to compile impeachable offences which the House will use against Obiano and he (Obi) engaged one Emeakayi to breakdown the impeachable offences.
The legislators led by Rita Maduagwu is said to be disposed to an Obi-led government than Obiano given the fact that Obi played a major role in her election as a member of the House of Assembly before she was enthroned as the current speaker.
In fact, the Speaker is seen as one that can keep a mindset of her own without being pushed around which was part of the reason she stayed out of the N10 billion loan approved by the House late last year
Should the impeachment succeed, it was gathered that the Speaker will take over office for three months to prepare ground for a fresh election.
It was gathered that the majority of stakeholders are even contemplating a return to power of Peter Obi as governor after the impeachment.
The Constitution, the stakeholders were convinced, is favourable to Obi as it provides that a person shall serve as governor for the first four years and is eligible for re-election for another term, but will only seek or contest for the position of governor, if another person is elected after the second term.
Thus, Obi is eligible to seek for the seat of the governor any time Obiano is out of power whether in two years or four years.
It was gathered that, preparatory to taking over as governor again, Obi has initiated a first step which is to scuttle the ambition of his arch enemy, Victor Umeh, by declaring to contest for the vacant Anambra Central Senatorial District seat after his favoured candidate, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, was sent packing.
Our source revealed that it is on account of the unholy plot to stop Obiano after two of his four year term that his wife, Ebelechukwu has moved in to take over as governor for the remaining two years in office.
She, it was learnt, has boosted that it would be easier to flush Willie Obiano out of power than herself, hence her determination to rule with iron hand and call the bluff of whomever that may stand on her way.
