Obong Nsima Ekere Mourns Late Akwa Ibom First Lady
His Excellency Obong Nsima Ekere has commiserated with Governor Umo Eno, the First Family, the Akwa Ibom State Government and the people of the State on the loss of Her Excellency Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno, who until her demise was the First Lady of the State.
Interacting with newsmen on Wednesday at the Ikot Ekpene Udo hometown of the Governor, after attending the Service of Songs held ahead of the funeral service on Friday, Obong Ekere, former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), described the loss as tragic, bemoaning that the Governor and the entire State have lost a rare gem, a godly woman, pillar of strength and support.
“It’s a solemn and difficult moment for Akwa Ibom State. We never saw this coming. Death has robbed us of a woman of valour who was never found wanting in service and responsibilities.
“We have lost a rare gem, a godly woman, and pillar of support and strength. I’m here to join millions of Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians to bid her farewell albeit painfully,” he said.
Obong Ekere recalled the late First Lady’s contributions to the development of Akwa Ibom State, particularly using her pet programmes to boost the welfare of women and children.
“She was a true mother to the State. I’m of the belief that her legacies will live on through the countless lives she touched, and the many projects and initiatives she championed.”
Her Excellency Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno passed away on September 26, 2024.
Her remains shall be committed to mother earth on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area..
