OERAF director Dr. Akpodiete gave out soft grants to Iwhreko community women

The Executive Director of Olotu and Rowland Ekuogbe Akpodiete Foundation (OERAF), Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete Ph.D (JP), gave out soft grants.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), he gave the grants to thirty (30) women of Otor-Iwhreko Community, Ughelli.

The event took place yesterday, 9th April, 2025.

It was to mark the remembrance of his late grandfather, Late Chief Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Ph.D.

The late Chief was the Otota R’ovie of the great Ughelli Kingdom.

He passed on the 9th of April, 1995.

Dr. Akpodiete, in his opening remarks, emphasized his late grandfather’s strong legacy.

He noted that the late Chief was a good community leader until his death.

He added that he was also a great philanthropist during his lifetime.

Dr. Olotu Akpodiete further reiterated his commitment to emulate his late grandfather’s legacy.

He stated that he has passionately and graciously followed in his grandfather’s footsteps.

He affirmed his continuous use of his foundation to better lives and support humanity.

Chief Dr. Linda Ikpuri, guest speaker of the day, also addressed the audience.

She is a member of the Warri South Properties and Investment Board.

She encouraged the market women to always use grants given to them judiciously.

She emphasized the importance of using such opportunities for their intended purposes.

She warned that failure to do so may deny them future opportunities.

Earlier, Barrister (Mrs.) Agboka Akpodiete-Omale spoke about Late Chief Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete’s biography.

She described the late Chief as a very straightforward man.

She noted that he was a great philanthropist and a legal icon.

He was a lawyer by profession and a dedicated community leader.

He was also known for his generosity and commitment to service.

Barrister Agboka added that his good life reflects in his descendants’ lives.

She said it shows in both his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Responding on behalf of the women, Mrs. Elizabeth Oboroh spoke after the grants presentation.

She sincerely appreciated Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete Ph.D for his magnanimity.

She also thanked him for his generosity towards humanity.

She prayed that God would bless the giver abundantly.

She promised the women would use the grants wisely and responsibly.

She assured they would expand their various businesses successfully with the grants.

Comrade Emonena Akpodiete gave the vote of thanks at the event.

He appreciated the women for honoring the invitation to the ceremony.

He also thanked his younger nephew, Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete Ph.D.

He commended him for the good work he is doing in the community.

Other family members were also present at the memorable ceremony.

They included Chief Mrs. Grace Akpodiete and Mrs. Elohor Esakpaide.

Also present were Captain Oghenevwegba Akpodiete and Bishop Owhorode Akpodiete.

Bar. Agboka Akpodiete-Omale and Mrs. Aduviekeya Umoru also attended the ceremony.

Ms. Ese Akpodiete, Ogheneogaga Akpodiete, and Ayerode Akpodiete were in attendance too.

Mr. Uremu Akpobasa and Esther Akpodiete completed the list of family attendees.
