Oguta Ameshi, a beautiful and vibrant community in Imo State, Nigeria, has been grappling with a perennial problem: epileptic power supply.

For over twenty years, the community has been shrouded in darkness, with no end in sight.

The absence of a reliable power supply has stifled business growth, hindered economic development, and subjected the residents to untold hardship.

The Scourge of Corruption
The root cause of this problem lies in corruption and mismanagement.

Funds allocated for the provision of electricity in Oguta Ameshi have been allegedly diverted into the pockets of certain individuals, leaving the community in darkness.

This brazen act of corruption has been perpetuated for years, with the government seemingly turning a blind eye.

Divide and Rule
The leadership tussle in Oguta Ameshi has further exacerbated the problem.

The Eze, Ogana, and Ogene have all been embroiled in a struggle for power, which has distracted them from the pressing issue of electricity.

This divide-and-rule approach has allowed the government and corrupt individuals to exploit the community’s resources while ignoring their basic needs.

Oguta choro oku” – A Cry for Help*
The people of Oguta Ameshi are crying out for help. “Oguta choro oku” is a phrase that has become synonymous with the community’s plight. Despite being surrounded by oil companies like Shell, Agip (now Oando), and others, the community remains in darkness.

The gas turbine is a viable solution to Oguta Ameshi’s power problem, but it remains unexploited.

The Importance of Light
Light is essential for economic growth, social development, and human well-being. Without a reliable power supply, businesses cannot operate efficiently, students cannot study effectively, and residents are exposed to safety risks. The absence of light has also led to a decline in the quality of life, with residents forced to rely on generators and candles, which are hazardous to their health.

A Call to Action
The people of Oguta Ameshi deserve better.

They deserve a reliable power supply that will enable them to live comfortably, conduct business efficiently, and enjoy a better quality of life.

The government must take immediate action to address this problem, ensuring that funds allocated for electricity are used judiciously and that corrupt individuals are brought to book.

A Solution in Sight?
The gas turbine is a viable solution to Oguta Ameshi’s power problem.

With the presence of Shell, Agip (now Oando), and other oil companies in the area, there is no excuse for the community to remain in darkness.

The government must work with these companies to harness the gas resources in the area and provide a reliable power supply to the community.

Conclusion
Oguta Ameshi’s epileptic power supply is a shameful indictment of the government’s failure to provide basic amenities to its citizens.

The community’s plight is a stark reminder of the need for good governance, transparency, and accountability.

The people of Oguta Ameshi deserve better, and it is time for the government to take action and provide them with the reliable power supply they so desperately need.
