Olam Agri has announced plans to invest $400 million in Africa’s food and feed processing sector by 2028, including the establishment of new animal feed mills in Nigeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast.
The investment is expected to expand local processing capacity, strengthen food production and create opportunities for farmers across the continent.
In Nigeria, a third animal feed plant is planned, alongside an expansion of semolina production and the deployment of 850 additional trucks to improve distribution.
The company also plans to establish a 300,000-tonne poultry feed plant in Cameroon, while investments in wheat milling, animal feed production and poultry breeding are being considered in Ivory Coast.
Olam Agri said the planned facilities in Nigeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast could generate annual demand for more than 500,000 tonnes of locally sourced corn and soybeans when fully operational.
More than 130,000 smallholder farmers are expected to benefit from the increased demand for agricultural produce.
The investment is expected to strengthen local value chains, reduce dependence on imported food products and support Africa’s growing demand for food and animal protein.
