Food and travel content creator Opeyemi Famakin has shared an interesting encounter he had with a couple at a hotel, recounting a conversation that quickly turned to Dangote Refinery shares.
According to Famakin, he met the couple at the hotel and exchanged pleasantries with them before the woman revealed that she had invested heavily in Dangote Refinery.
Famakin said the woman told him she had purchased shares in the refinery worth ₦100 million and appeared to assume that he had also invested in the company.
The conversation reportedly took another turn when the woman claimed that people close to Aliko Dangote had already secured a significant portion of the available shares.
She further suggested that the shares were being sold in dollars, highlighting the scale of the investment and the level of interest surrounding the refinery.
Famakin’s account has sparked curiosity online, particularly among Nigerians interested in the ownership structure and investment opportunities surrounding the Dangote Refinery.
The Dangote Refinery, located in Lagos, is one of Africa’s largest oil refineries and has attracted significant public attention since beginning operations.
While Famakin shared the encounter as a personal experience, the claims about the ₦100 million investment, the availability of shares and their alleged dollar-denominated pricing have not been independently established in his account.
The story has nonetheless generated conversation about the growing interest in major Nigerian businesses and the appetite among wealthy investors to gain exposure to high-profile companies and projects.
