Ossoff accuses Trump of selling access, demands impeachment
DDM News

Senator Jon Ossoff, Democrat of Georgia, has called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Speaking during a town hall event near Atlanta on Friday, Ossoff argued that Trump’s actions have surpassed historical thresholds for impeachment.
According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), the senator pointed specifically to Trump’s involvement in promoting a meme coin and granting private audiences to its buyers.
“I saw just 48 hours ago that he is granting audiences to people who buy his meme coin,” Ossoff told the crowd.
According to Ossoff, the situation amounts to the President of the United States effectively selling access for personal financial gain.
“When the sitting President of the United States is selling access for what amounts to direct payments to himself, there is no doubt that it constitutes an impeachable offense,” he declared.
Ossoff’s statements came in response to an impassioned question from an attendee worried about Trump’s growing influence.
The attendee expressed concern that Trump’s behavior was pushing the United States toward authoritarian rule.
“Do more,” the woman urged the senator.
“I like you and I will vote for you if you are brave and do what we need,” she continued.
“We need him impeached, we need him removed,” she demanded.
Ossoff immediately affirmed his strong agreement with the attendee’s sentiments.
“I strongly agree,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to seeking justice.
However, Ossoff cautioned that political realities would require a Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives to achieve the goal.
“The only way to achieve what you want to achieve is to have a majority United States House of Representatives,” he explained.
“And believe me, I’m working on it every single day, every single day,” Ossoff added.
The Georgia senator, who is campaigning for reelection, has repeatedly criticized Trump’s conduct, both during and after his presidency.
Ossoff’s fiery remarks illustrate growing frustration among Democrats and left-leaning voters who believe Trump has consistently evaded accountability.
Recent controversies, including Trump’s promotion of questionable cryptocurrency schemes, have intensified calls for political leaders to act.
Many Democrats worry that Trump’s actions, if left unchecked, could further erode democratic norms and consolidate power in dangerous ways.
The meme coin controversy is only the latest in a series of scandals involving Trump’s financial dealings and political access.
Critics argue that such behavior blurs the lines between personal profit and public service, undermining trust in government institutions.
Supporters of impeachment insist that failing to address these issues would set a dangerous precedent for future leaders.
Ossoff’s public call for impeachment could mark the beginning of a larger movement within the Democratic Party as the 2026 midterms approach.
Other Democrats may soon feel pressure from constituents to take a firmer stand against Trump’s influence.
Meanwhile, Trump remains a dominant force within Republican circles, continuing to raise money and rally supporters nationwide.
The ongoing clash between Trump loyalists and his critics shows no signs of easing.
For now, Ossoff’s remarks have added new urgency to the debate over Trump’s accountability and the future of American democracy.
Whether this leads to actual impeachment proceedings remains uncertain.
But one thing is clear: the battle lines for 2026 are already being drawn.
