Oyo Assembly adopts digital lesson notes for public schools

The Oyo State House of Assembly has directed its education committee to engage stakeholders on adopting digital lesson notes in public schools.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the committee will meet with officials from the Ministry of Education, SUBEB, TESCOM, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss implementation.

Hon. Dele Adeola, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju, moved the motion during the plenary session held yesterday at the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The motion was titled “Need to Digitize Education Management System in Public Primary and Secondary Schools in the State through Institutionalization of E-Lesson Notes for Teachers for Effective Service Delivery.”

Adeola emphasized the importance of replacing traditional lesson notes with digital lesson notes for improved efficiency and enhanced teaching quality.

He stated that the current manual lesson note system is outdated and does not align with modern education and technological advancements.

He explained that teachers in public schools have been manually duplicating lesson notes for decades, consuming valuable time and effort.

He argued that digital lesson notes would allow teachers to focus on research, innovation, and professional development in their respective fields.

Adeola stressed that integrating digital lesson notes would help teachers access e-learning materials and adopt modern instructional methods.

He noted that transitioning to digital lesson notes is essential for Oyo State to align with global education standards and best practices.

He stated that writing lesson notes manually is time-consuming, especially for public school teachers managing large student populations.

He explained that the high student-teacher ratio in public schools makes manual lesson note writing a herculean task for educators.
