(DDM) –  The Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education and healthcare development during his visit to Nnewi and Amichi communities in Anambra State.

Obi, who shared the update via his official handle, said his visit began at the College of Nursing Sciences, Amichi, before proceeding to the Immaculate Girls Model Secondary School, Nnewi, where he interacted with teachers and students.

The former Anambra governor recalled that during his tenure, he had supported the Immaculate Girls Model Secondary School by donating laptops, a school bus, and other learning facilities, aimed at improving teaching and learning standards.

He was, however, informed that the only school bus currently in use was the same one he donated as governor, which has served for nearly 12 years and is now barely functional.

According to DDM findings, the students and teachers passionately appealed for a new school bus and more laptops to enhance their digital learning experience.

Obi assured them of his continued support, promising to provide the necessary tools and facilities that would promote effective education and make learning more accessible for the students.

In continuation of his visit, Obi stopped at St. Felix Hospital, Nnewi, after receiving an earlier request for urgent assistance from the hospital management.

During the visit, he donated ₦5 million to support the hospital’s operations and expressed his commitment to continually assist the healthcare facility in serving the community effectively.

The donation, DDM gathered, is part of Obi’s personal outreach initiative aimed at strengthening health and education infrastructures across the country, especially at the grassroots level.

Obi emphasized that education and healthcare remain the two critical pillars for any nation seeking sustainable development and prosperity.

He noted that no nation can advance without deliberate investments in human capital, stressing that education empowers young minds while healthcare safeguards the nation’s productivity and well-being.

“For our nation to make progress,” Obi stated, “we must deliberately invest in education and health, the most critical foundations for a developed nation and human capital development.”

He added, “I remain committed to contributing my part, no matter how small, to building a Nigeria where every child can learn and every citizen can access quality healthcare.”

The former governor reiterated his belief that “A New Nigeria is Possible”, a mantra that has continued to define his post-election engagements and grassroots interventions across states.

DDM recalls that Peter Obi has, in recent months, embarked on a series of private humanitarian and developmental visits to schools, hospitals, and religious institutions, offering support to local communities in line with his vision of a people-centered leadership model.

Observers describe his latest visits as consistent with his long-standing philosophy that public office and wealth must serve humanity, particularly in a country grappling with economic hardship and underfunded social sectors.

As Nigeria continues to battle challenges in healthcare and education, Obi’s interventions, though personal, have reignited public debate about the role of leadership and accountability in addressing systemic failures.

With his renewed pledge to assist institutions like Immaculate Girls Model Secondary School and St. Felix Hospital, Obi continues to position himself as a leading voice for grassroots empowerment and social investment in Nigeria.

A New Nigeria, he insists, remains possible, if leaders and citizens alike make service to humanity their central mission.
