Peter Obi marked Valentine’s Day by visiting the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL) congregation in Emene, Enugu.

During his visit, he donated ₦25 million to support their proposed College of Nursing project.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) he emphasized that Valentine’s Day should be about love, service, and sacrifice for humanity.

Obi condemned the growing culture of materialism in Nigeria, linking it to poverty and economic hardship.

He argued that true love is not about extravagant gifts but about acts of kindness and compassion.

The former Anambra governor criticized both leaders and citizens who prioritize personal wealth over societal development.

He urged Nigerians to focus on investments in education, healthcare, and human capital development.

According to him, no nation can progress without prioritizing the well-being of its people.

Obi commended the DDL congregation for their dedication to healthcare and education, calling them pillars of national growth.

He stated that physical infrastructure is meaningless without first investing in human infrastructure.

Obi pledged to continue supporting the nursing school project until it becomes fully operational.

He revealed that his ₦25 million donation was part of a larger financial commitment.

Alongside Prof. Philip Ozuah, he has contributed a total of ₦100 million to the initiative.

Obi stressed that such projects are necessary to bridge the gap in Nigeria’s struggling healthcare system.

He noted that training more nurses and healthcare professionals would strengthen the country’s medical sector.

He challenged other well-meaning Nigerians to support similar initiatives in education and healthcare.

According to him, real progress comes from collective efforts to uplift society.

Obi also decried the widening gap between the rich and the poor in Nigeria.

He warned that the culture of materialism continues to fuel corruption and bad governance.

He urged leaders to prioritize policies that improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

He maintained that leaders should be more concerned about social welfare than personal enrichment.

Obi called on the government to allocate more resources to healthcare and education.

He argued that a nation cannot develop if its citizens lack access to quality healthcare and education.

His donation sparked discussions about his philanthropic efforts and political influence.

Many Nigerians praised him for his consistent commitment to public service.

Supporters highlighted his past efforts in improving schools and hospitals across Nigeria.

Some critics, however, questioned the timing and publicity surrounding the donation.

They argued that the gesture could have political undertones ahead of future elections.

Others countered that Obi has a long-standing record of supporting education and healthcare.

The DDL congregation expressed gratitude for his generosity and long-term commitment.

They assured him that the funds would be used effectively to advance the project.

Sister representatives from the congregation reaffirmed their dedication to providing quality nursing education.

They emphasized that the project aims to produce skilled healthcare professionals to serve communities in need.

Obi reiterated that his vision for Nigeria is centered on compassion, justice, and shared prosperity.

He encouraged Nigerians to practice love through meaningful actions, not just words.

He urged people to reflect on how they can contribute to building a better society.

Obi emphasized that genuine leadership is measured by service, not by wealth accumulation.

He expressed optimism that with the right priorities, Nigeria can achieve significant progress.

He called on both individuals and organizations to invest in long-term developmental projects.

Obi concluded by urging Nigerians to reject materialism and focus on nation-building.

His Valentine’s Day message was a call to action for love, service, and societal transformation.

The donation to the College of Nursing project serves as a reminder that leadership is about making a difference.

With his continued focus on education and healthcare, Obi has once again positioned himself as a leader committed to progress.

His actions reflect a broader vision of building a Nigeria where every citizen has access to opportunities for growth.

Obi’s message remains clear—true love is demonstrated through service and sacrifice, not material excess.
