El-Rufai

Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, has made a stunning admission about the 2023 presidential election.

In a leaked video, he claimed that Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, might have genuinely won the election with a wide margin, but he chose to remain silent because Obi is an Igbo man.

El-Rufai now regrets his decision, stating that the North is suffering more than the Igbo people as a result.

This has sparked significant reactions on social media, with some people believing he is finally telling the truth, while others think his statements reflect the deep-seated tribalism and religiosity that affects Nigerian politics.

It’s worth noting that El-Rufai’s current stance on Peter Obi is a stark contrast to his views in February 2023.

Back then, he dismissed Obi’s chances of winning the presidential election, labeling him a “Nollywood actor” who lacked the necessary spread and footprint to secure victory.

El-Rufai emphasized that the election was between the APC and PDP, as they had the footprint and spread, whereas Obi’s campaign was centered around ethnicity and religious bigotry.

El-Rufai’s admission may change how people perceive the 2023 presidential election and those who remained silent about the outcome.

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, this revelation could influence public opinion and potentially impact the political landscape.

El-Rufai regrets keeping quiet about Peter Obi’s potential victory because he’s an Igbo man.

El-Rufai believes the North is suffering more than the Igbo people due to the current administration.

El-Rufai’s comments highlight the role of tribalism and religiosity in Nigerian politics.

Recall that El-Rufai is one the leaders of the current coalition seeking for the removal of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He was instrumental to the emergence of President Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and was a member of APC.
