Mr. Peter Obi, alongside former gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, visited the family of late Doyin Okupe.

The post reads, “Following the sad news of the death of my dear elder brother, late Dr Doyin Okupe and my earlier tweet today, I visited his family this evening to offer my heartfelt condolences.
“I assured them that we will stand by them during this difficult time. While no one can question God’s will, we must continue to support and stand by one another, especially in time of grief.
“Once again, may Almighty God grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, and may the soul of Dr. Doyin Okupe rest in perfect peace”.
News Band reported that Doyin Okupe, a respected Nigerian physician, politician, and former presidential adviser died at the age of 72.
Family sources revealed that Dr. Okupe had been seriously sick in the weeks before his death with his health rapidly declining and causing distress among his loved ones and supporters.
He died after a prolonged battle with cancer.
In October 2023, it was reported that Okupe was receiving treatment for prostate cancer in Israel.
Despite efforts to manage his condition, his health did not improve as hoped.
Okupe was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago and later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder.
