A shocking tragedy has rocked Ilorin as a missing student was found dismembered, leading to the arrest of a suspect.

On Monday, February 10, 2025, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, went missing under mysterious circumstances.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that she had attended a naming ceremony when she received a call from a friend.

According to reports from DDM corespondents, Ibraheem Alfa Abdulrasheed
February 14, 2025, the victim left her meal unfinished to answer the call and then walked away.

Since then, her family and friends searched for her without success.

Police track last call and arrest suspect

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, her parents reported her disappearance at Oja Oba Police Station, Ilorin.

Police obtained her phone number and used tracking technology to trace her last call.

The call led them to a suspect residing in the Ofa Garage district of Ilorin.

Although his family house is in Isale-Koto, he was living alone in a rented apartment.

Suspect confesses after house search

The police arrested the suspect, who initially denied knowing her whereabouts.

However, after officers conducted a thorough search of his residence, he confessed.

He claimed the student died from an asthma attack after he invited her over.

Dismembered body discovered in a bowl

Further investigations led to a gruesome discovery.

The student’s body was found dismembered and stored inside a large bowl.

Police also recovered equipment used for dismembering bodies near the remains.

Student met suspect on Facebook

The suspect revealed that he and the student connected on Facebook.

He obtained her phone number and later persuaded her to visit him.

She reportedly agreed to meet him on the day she went missing.

Evidence suggests serial crimes

Disturbingly, officers found more chilling evidence in the suspect’s room.

A large wooden table appeared to be equipped for dismembering bodies.

Police now suspect he may have committed similar crimes before.

The case has been transferred to the Kwara State Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Suspect’s family background raises concerns

Investigations revealed that the suspect is the son of a respected cleric from Isale-Koto, Ilorin.

His father, a well-known Islamic scholar, passed away recently.

This revelation has shocked the community, given the family’s religious standing.
